The Telly Awards has named the Webber Energy Group at The University of Texas at Austin as a Bronze winner in the 35th Annual Telly Awards for their educational PBS television program titled Energy at the Movies.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest web productions. As a widely known and highly respected national and international competition, each year the organization receives over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and many foreign countries.
“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “Energy at the Movies’ accomplishment serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
“This is truly an honor. We are thrilled by the Telly Awards’ recognition of [Energy at the Movies], and this affirms the need for high quality STEM and energy education programming on TV,” says Dr. Michael Webber, a distinguished professor and the program’s executive producer and host.
With over 210 telecasts on 95 channels in 27 states, Energy at the Movies is a big success for informal STEM education. A follow-up series is currently in development for PBS.
